Plaisterers’ Hall was chosen by ActionAid for prestigious fundraising event Call My Wine Bluff. Celebrity wine-lovers joined guests of the charity to raise a whopping £163,000 to support ActionAid’s work fighting poverty around the world at one of the City’s favourite livery halls.
Hosted by Nicholas Parsons and featuring celebrity panelists such as comedian Ed Byrne, actor and comedian Hugh Dennis, TV presenter Phillip Schofield and comedy actress Arabella Weir, Call My Wine Bluff duped a supporting audience with an evening of extraordinary wine based entertainment.
An auction followed, with top auction lots including the chance to take part in a community building project with ActionAid in Cambodia – a prize which went for £12,000. Other exciting items included a Marc Chagall original lithograph, sold for £10,000, and a guitar signed by Sting which raised £3,500.
Call My Wine Bluff has to date raised £911,000 to support children and communities who face poverty and injustice. Donations raised at this event were matched pound for pound by the UK government for ActionAid’s Ready for Anything Appeal.
Plaisterers’ Hall Event Director Peter Strange and The Concerto Group’s Charity Account Manager Holly Clark ensured the organisation of the event was seamless, having been involved from the very beginning and with Holly also serving on the internal committee of Call My Wine Bluff.
‘Plaisterers’ Hall was not necessarily the logical choice for our event but definitely turned out to be the right one. The atmosphere on the night was fantastic, a beautiful setting and high quality food. The team at Plaisterers’ Hall contributed to the success of Call My Wine Bluff and we were very pleased with the outcome.’
